Expectations for Upswing Tutors Regarding Academic Integrity

At Upswing, academic integrity is paramount. Examples of academic integrity violations include:

  • Tutors completing a student's work for them
  • Tutors helping students with take-home quizzes or tests
  • Tutors writing papers or portions of papers for students
  • Plagiarism by students

Student plagiarism can be particularly problematic. Our tutors work under the assumption that the work a student brings to a session is their own. However, if a tutor does discover unattributed information, ideas, or language in a student’s essay, they should address the concern by:

  • Discussing the importance of citing all language, information, and ideas that do not belong to the student
  • Demonstrating correct citation etiquette

Quizzes/Tests/Exams

Upswing tutors are not permitted to assist students with quizzes, tests, or exams. If a student presents quiz or test material/questions during a session, you should politely explain Upswing’s strict quiz/test policy and end the session.

The only exception to this policy is if the student presents documentation from the instructor that explicitly permits outside help with completing the assignment.

If you have any questions about Upswing’s academic integrity + quiz/test policies, please email tutors@upswing.io.
