In order to be able to use all of the functionalities of Upswing, especially the functionalities within our online learning center where tutoring sessions take place, you need to make sure that you've allowed specific permissions for the Upswing website within Google Chrome. If you're having issues with audio, video, or other technical functions in the VLC, we recommend checking the site permissions to confirm that you've enabled access to the Upswing website.
Recommended Site Permissions
If you already know how to check the site permissions you have enabled within Google Chrome, please check that the following permissions are enabled:
- Camera: Allow
- Microphone: Allow
- Notifications: Allow
- Pop-ups and Redirects: Allow
- Sound: Allow
If you're not sure how to check your site permissions, please view the step-by-step instructions below.
How to Check Upswing's Site Permissions
-
Click the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner of your Google Chrome browser.
-
Select 'Settings' to open your Google Chrome settings.
-
Select 'Privacy and security' in the left-side menu.
-
Click on the box that says 'Site settings'.
-
Select 'View permissions and data stored across sites'.
-
Search for your school's Upswing URL.
Your school's Upswing URL will be the website you visit when you log into Upswing. It should look something like school.upswing.io. Click on the arrow to the right of the URL to open the site permissions. -
Allow the following site permissions.
In the list, make sure that the following permissions are set to 'Allow': camera, microphone, notifications, pop-ups and redirects, and sound.
If you've verified that all of these permissions have been enabled and you're still having technical issues in the VLC, please take a look at this article: My microphone / video / sound isn't working in the Virtual Learning Center (VLC). What do I do?
