I claimed an assignment, but it is no longer in my queue. What happened?

As an Upswing tutor, when you claim an assignment from the general queue, you have 24 hours to complete the review. If you aren't able to complete the assignment within 24 hours, this assignment "expires" and returns to the general queue, where other async tutors have the opportunity to claim it.

It is imperative that you only claim assignments that you are confident you can complete within 24 hours. Upswing strongly urges tutors to complete assignments as close to the claim time as possible. Although Upswing does issue a "due in 6 hours" courtesy reminder email notification, we consider you as ultimately responsible for managing your time. It is a violation of Upswing policy for async tutors to permit claimed assignments to expire. This behavior can lead to discipline and termination. Tutors who allow assignments to expire are not eligible for compensation for that assignment.

If you claimed an assignment, but due to an emergency or other circumstance that will prevent you from completing the review, you need to notify Tutor Management (through the #async Slack channel or at tutors@upswing.io) that you won't be able to complete it, allowing us to move it back into the queue for someone else to claim.
