Students and tutors can use the Equation Editor to add equations to the VLC whiteboard for tutoring sessions involving mathematics.

Instructions

  1. Click the Equation Editor.

Depending on the size of your browser window, the Equation Editor will either be on the top of the whiteboard or to the left side as shown here.

  2. Create an Equation.

Use the available options in the equation editor window to create an equation.
    • Use your keyboard as you normally would to type letters and numbers.
    • Some buttons in the Equation tool will allow you to type normally in different formats (to make fractions, superscript, etc.)
    • Other buttons will insert characters not available on a normal keyboard.equation demo.gif

  3. Add the Equation to the Whiteboard.

Click the 'Add to whiteboard' button to make the equation visible to everyone in the session.

  4. Move, Resize, or Delete the Equation.

After adding an equation, the Select tool will be selected automatically which you can use to move, resize, and delete the equation.

Once you have added the equation to the whiteboard, you won't be able to change it. However, the last equation added will be in the Equation Editor window the next time you open it, as shown in the demo above.

Congratulations! Now you know how to use the Equation Editor tool!
