As an administrator, you have the ability to place a limit on the number of assignments students are able to submit for review in a given time period. This guide provides administrators with step-by-step instructions on how to limit the number of assignments students can submit for review, and addresses common questions about assignment review limitations.
What Are Assignment Review Limits?
Similar to Tutoring Session Limits, Assignment Review Limits allow for administrators to control the amount of times a student can submit an assignment for review during a given time period. Once a student reaches the limit, they won't be able to submit another assignment for review until the time period of the limit has passed.
Assignment Review Limits apply to all submissions from students. For example, if your institution utilizes both campus tutors and Upswing tutors for Assignment Review, there isn't a way to limit the number of assignments that go to Upswing tutors but not to school tutors; the limit is applied to all of a student’s submissions for the time frame indicated in the limit setting.
How to Set Assignment Review Limits
-
Access the Assignment Review Tab Within the Admin Dashboard.
Log into Upswing as an administrator, and click on 'Assignment Review' on the left side of the screen. -
Select 'Assignment Review Settings'.
In the drop-down menu within the 'Assignment Review' tab, select 'Assignment Review Settings'. -
Determine the Limit You'd Like to Set.
There are three options for limitations you can set on the number of assignments a student can submit:- A limit on submissions per week
- A limit on submissions per month
- A limit on submissions during a specific time period
-
Select the Time Frame and Provide the Number of Assignments for the Limitation.
Weekly Limit:
To set a limit on the number of assignments a student can submit per week, check the box next to "Limit the number of weekly assignments reviewed per student:" and provide the quantity in the corresponding box. In the example below, students would only be able to submit 1 assignment per week.
Monthly Limit:
To set a limit on the number of assignments a student can submit per month, check the box next to "Limit the number of monthly assignments reviewed per student:" and provide the quantity in the corresponding box. In the example below, students would only be able to submit 2 assignments per month.
Date Range Limit:
To set a limit on the number of assignments a student can submit during a specific date range, check the box next to "Limit the number of assignments reviewed per student from:", provide the start and end date within the fillable date fields, and provide the quantity in the corresponding box. In the example below, students would only be able to submit 6 assignments for review from January 1 - May 31. -
Save The Limit.
Once you've provided the details of the limit you'd like to place, click on the blue 'Save Changes' button.
You should receive a confirmation message at the bottom of your screen, letting you know that the limitation has saved.
How to Remove Assignment Review Limits
Administrators are able to easily remove an Assignment Review Limit at any time! To remove the limit, simply uncheck the box next to the limit you've set and click 'Save Changes'.
How to Add Multiple Assignment Review Limits
Administrators are also able to set multiple Assignment Review Limits. To do so, check the boxes next to the limits you'd like to place, and provide the quantity of submissions and date range (if applicable).
In the example below, students are only able to submit 2 assignments for review per month, and only 6 assignments in total from January 1 - May 31. If a student were to submit 2 assignments for review in January, February, and March, they wouldn't be able to submit another assignment for review because of the 6 assignment limit from January 1 - May 31.
