Advisors: How will I know when a student wants to schedule with me?

Once a student has requested a session with you, there will be a notification on your Upswing profile page in addition to an automated email notifying you of the requested session. 

Session Request Pop-Up Notifications

If you’re currently logged in to your Upswing account, you’ll receive a pop-up notification where you can accept or reject the session request. Please keep in mind, if you reject the session request, you won't be able to undo the rejection. You will also have the choice to decide later, if you aren't sure about the session request.

If you click 'Decide Later', you'll be able to respond to the session request within your Advising module.

Session Requests within the Advising Module

You'll also be able to respond to session requests within the Advising module. After logging into Upswing, click on Advising in the left navigation menu. From there, you'll see a box titled 'Upcoming Advising Sessions'. The student's session request will appear here, where you'll have the ability to accept or reject the session request.

Unanswered Sessions

If you don't respond to a session request before the session is scheduled to begin, the session status will show as 'unanswered'. As best practice, we recommend accepting or rejecting session requests as soon as possible to prevent student's requests from being unanswered.
