Upswing is designed to be accessible and user-friendly. However, to achieve optimal performance and experience its full potential, there are certain software requirements and recommendations. These guidelines will help you prepare your device for using Upswing's platform.

Browser Requirements

For the best performance, it is recommended to use the latest version of one of the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome*
    • This is the recommended browser for Upswing
  • Mozilla Firefox

Other browsers, such as Safari and Internet Explorer, are not supported and may cause issues for users trying to use Upswing on Apple products.

Important Browser Settings

Google Chrome Site Permissions:

In order to utilize all of the functionalities within Upswing, there are certain site permissions you should have enabled within Chrome. Please take a look at this article for more information on the different site permissions: What site permissions in Google Chrome are recommended when using Upswing?

Pop-Up Blockers:

If you have a pop-up blocker enabled in your browser, please disable it. Upswing does have a few pop-ups that are necessary to receive when using the platform.

Device Recommendations

Laptops and desktops support Upswing's functionalities best! Upswing can be accessed from a phone or tablet, however, some of the functions may be lost when accessing Upswing on a mobile device.

Wi-Fi Speed Recommendations

Minimum Speed:

In order to be able to use Upswing, users need to have a download speed of at least 1 mbps, and an upload speed of at least 1 mbps. However, this is a slow WiFi speed and could result in a poor connection during online tutoring sessions. If your WiFi speed is slow, we recommend turning off your video during online tutoring sessions to reduce the bandwidth needed.

Recommended Speed:

To maintain a stable audio/video connection during online tutoring sessions, we recommend a download speed of at least 10 mbps, and an upload speed of at least 10 mbps

You can run a free WiFi speed test on this website. Additionally, you can run a Pre-Call Test (hyperlinked), before an online tutoring session to check if your WiFi speed/bandwidth is suitable for audio/video conferencing.

Meeting these software requirements will ensure that you can fully engage with all that Upswing has to offer, from interactive sessions to accessing a wide range of resources.
