What is required to use Upswing?

• Device

  • Laptops and desktops support the functionality of Upswing the best
  • Upswing can be accessed from a mobile device or tablet, however, some functions may be lost when accessing on a mobile device.

• Internet connection

What is recommended:

• Webcam (for the video component of the Virtual Learning Center)

• Microphone (for the audio component of the Virtual Learning Center)

Supported browsers:

• Google Chrome

  • This is the recommended platform for Upswing!

• Mozilla Firefox

• IE 9 or higher

• Others not listed

Note: There is no need to download any software or install anything onto your computer.

Bandwidth Recommendations

For best results, we recommend a minimum dedicated 1000 kbps / 1 Mbit/s down per downloaded stream, as well as 1000 kbps / 1 Mbit/s up per uploaded stream to maintain a stable audio/video connection during online tutoring. You can run a free WiFi speed test on this website.

Additionally, you can run a Pre-Call Test, located at this link (https://tokbox.com/developer/tools/precall/) to check your broadband speed/bandwidth is suitable for audio/video conferencing.

Each of these actions counts as an “upload stream”:

All 1-on-1 sessions are two downloaded streams, as well.
