The Virtual Learning Center (VLC), where online tutoring sessions take place, currently does not support built-in closed captioning. However, there is a workaround you can use if you need live captions during your online sessions. Google Chrome offers an accessibility feature called Live Caption that automatically generates captions for audio and video content, including live conversations. Follow the steps below to enable this feature in your Chrome browser.

How to Enable Live Captions in Google Chrome:

  1. Open Google Chrome Settings.

Within your Google Chrome browser, click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the browser window. In the drop-down menu, select 'Settings'.

  3. Enable Live Captions.

  4. Start Your Session!

Once enabled, Chrome will automatically display captions for any audio played through the browser, including VLC tutoring sessions.

Things to Note:

  • The Live Caption feature works for audio content played through Chrome. This includes media from websites and live conversations in video calls, but it may not work as effectively with certain apps or systems that are not browser-based.
  • Captions may not always be 100% accurate, especially for complex or technical discussions, but they offer a helpful alternative for users who require visual assistance.
