The Writing Lab is an excellent tool at your disposal to help you with your writing! This article will give you an overview of what you can do within it, and the sections included. Keep in mind you may not have this option, depending on your school.

How to use Upswing's Writing Lab

Get started by clicking on the Visit Upswing’s Writing Lab box on the home page (or, if you just need help with citations, feel free to click on the Format your citations box for a shortcut to our citation engine!).

The Writing Process

In this section, you’ll find an overview video that will break down the process of writing an essay into four smaller steps.

 

Pre-writing

This section dives into all the information you’ll need about what to do during the pre-writing stage. Click through each of the sections to learn more about reading the prompt, brainstorming, and more!

 

Drafting

The drafting section will teach you about paragraph structure, topic sentences, and more! Follow the items in order, or view the ones you have questions about.

 

Revising

In this section, you’ll learn about how to make your writing stronger and more effective once you have all the main ideas down.

 

Editing

The editing section will help you tidy up your writing, and you’ll learn about the use of semicolons, comma splices, and more!

 

Citations
