Tutors: Setting a Buffer Period

What are Buffer Periods?

Buffer periods are a feature that allows tutors to set a certain period of time between when a student schedules a session and when that session starts. For example, if a tutor has a buffer period of 60 minutes set, the soonest a student would be able to schedule a session would be 60 minutes before they want to meet for a session. Buffer periods are a great way to prevent tutors from accidentally missing a last-minute session request from a student.

Buffer Period Requirements for Upswing Tutors

If you are a tutor contracted by Upswing, you are prohibited from setting a buffer period below 30 minutes. Tutor Management closely monitors buffer settings, and tutors who violate the 30 minute and above buffer policy will be subject to discipline. Tutors are still encouraged to set immediate availability to appear at the top of student searches. If you are an Upswing tutor and have questions about this requirement, please reach out to Tutor Management at tutors@upswing.io
