*This article is intended to help school tutors troubleshoot why they may not be receiving session notifications on Upswing.
If your Upswing page is displaying notifications within the browser, but you’re not getting a sound when one comes in, there’s a few things you can do to troubleshoot!
First, check to make sure you have notifications turned on in Upswing. You can check that by following the instructions in this article.
Once you’ve confirmed the notifications are on in Upswing, your next step is to check your browser settings. If you’re using Chrome (which we recommend, for the smoothest Upswing experience), you’ll navigate to those settings via the following path:

At the top right of Chrome, click More (the three dots) and then Settings.

Under Privacy and security, click Site settings.

Click Notifications.

Find Upswing’s URL in that list, and make sure that’s set to “Allow”

Note: if you don’t see Upswing’s URL in that list, please add it
Additionally, sound notifications in Google Chrome are only played if the tab is the active tab in a browser window. If you’re multi-tasking while waiting for a session, we recommend having multiple browser windows open with the Upswing tab being the active tab in one browser window, to ensure that notification plays.
