When you first claim an assignment, even if you plan to review it later, the best practice is to immediately open the file the student submitted to ensure the submission is reviewable.

If the student submitted their assignment as a PDF, the submission is still reviewable! You can easily convert the file to a Word document using this file converter software by Adobe Acrobat.

Once you've converted the student's file to a Word Document, you can complete their review as you normally would!

If the student uploaded a file that is unworkable for a different reason, please follow the steps outlined in this article: What To Do When a Student Submits an Unworkable Assignment (Blank File, Corrupted Files, Assignment Guidelines, Etc.)
