How to Schedule an Immediate Tutoring Session

This article provides step-by-step instructions to show students how to schedule an immediate session with a tutor on Upswing. Immediate tutoring sessions are similar to drop-in tutoring sessions, where scheduling an appointment ahead of time is not needed. Immediate sessions are great if you need tutoring urgently or if you weren't able to schedule a session ahead of time.

How to Schedule an Immediate Tutoring Session

  1. Go to the "Tutoring" Page.

    On your Upswing home page, you can start by either clicking "Meet with a tutor" on the main window, or clicking on "Tutoring" in the side navigation bar.

  2. Search For Your Course.

    In the search bar, search for your class! If you're having trouble searching for your class, please view this article: How To Search For Your Subject to Find a Tutor.

  3. Find a Tutor Available For an Immediate Session.

    After searching for your course, you'll the list of tutors able to assist with that specific class. Tutors available for immediate sessions will have a green border and a button that reads 'Available Now!' in the top right corner of their profile. Additionally, you'll see the button in the bottom right corner that says 'Meet Now!' in green.

  4. Click 'Meet Now!' or the 'Available now!' to Request an Immediate Session.

    To request an immediate session, click the green 'Meet Now!' button in the bottom right, or click the light green 'Available now!' chip in the top right of their profile card.

  5. Select the Session Duration.

    In the dropdown menu next to Duration, select how long you would like your tutoring session to be.

  6. Click 'Meet Now!'

    To request the immediate session, click the green 'Meet Now!' button.
