How to Schedule an Immediate Tutoring Session

This article provides step-by-step instructions to show students how to schedule an immediate session with a tutor on Upswing. Immediate tutoring sessions are similar to drop-in tutoring sessions, where scheduling an appointment ahead of time is not needed. Immediate sessions are great if you need tutoring urgently or if you weren't able to schedule a session ahead of time.

Written Instructions: Scheduling an Immediate Session

Go to the "Tutoring" Page.
On your Upswing home page, you can start by either clicking "Meet with a tutor" on the main window, or clicking on "Tutoring" in the side navigation bar.
Search For Your Course.
In the search bar, search for your class! If you're having trouble searching for your class, please view this article: How To Search For Your Subject to Find a Tutor.
Find a Tutor Available For an Immediate Session.
After searching for your course, you'll the list of tutors able to assist with that specific class. Tutors that are available for immediate sessions will appear at the top of the list, and their profile will be highlighted green to show that they are available for an immediate session.
Request Immediate Tutoring Session.
- Option 1: Request Immediate Session From the Tutor's Profile
  - Click on "View Profile".
    
    To learn more about this tutor, click on the "View Profile" button to view the tutor's profile.
  - Click on "Start a Session Now".
    
    If you'd like to schedule an immediate session after you've learned a bit about this tutor, click on the green "Start a session now!" button.
  - Provide the Session Details and Submit the Request.
    
    In the pop-up, provide the subject you'd like to meet about and the duration of the session. After providing the session details, click on the blue "Schedule" button.
- Option 2: Request Immediate Session From the Search Page
  - Click "Get Tutored Now".
    If you'd like to meet with the tutor you see and don't need to take a look at their profile before, you can click on the green "Get Tutored Now" button.
  - Provide Session Details and Submit the Request.
    After clicking "Get Tutored Now" a pop-up will appear. Provide the amount of time you'd like to meet with this tutor, then click on the green "Schedule" button to submit your request.
Begin the Session!
Once your tutor has accepted your immediate session request, a pop-up will appear on your screen, letting you know your session request has been accepted. Within this pop-up, click on the green "Go to Room" button to begin the session.
