It's very easy to cancel an upcoming appointment if you realize you won't be able to make it. Out of courtesy to the tutor, it's a good idea to cancel as soon as you know that you have a conflict so that the tutor can use that time for other sessions.
If you think you may be late to your session, please let your tutor know as soon as you can. Upswing tutors are only instructed to wait for 15 minutes, so if you are later than that you may miss that session and the system will register it as 'abandoned by student.' Depending on the school you attend, your access to tutoring may be reduced for abandoned sessions, so we advise attending all sessions you’ve scheduled, and cancelling the sessions you aren’t able to attend ahead of time.

Written Steps for Cancelling a Scheduled Tutoring Session
To cancel an upcoming session with a tutor, please follow these steps as soon as you can:
-
Navigate from the Home page to 'Tutoring'
From your Upswing main page, click the 'Meet with a tutor' box or the 'Tutoring' icon on the left side navigation menu. -
View Your Upcoming Sessions.
You may have to scroll down a bit. This is the same place you go to join a session as well.
-
Select 'Cancel'.
Next to 'Go to room' you'll see a red Cancel button. Once you’ve cancelled the session, the status will change to Cancelled. -
Send the Tutor a Message.
After cancelling the session, please click on the tutor’s name and send them a message via the Send a message button in the upper right corner of their profile to let them know you won’t be able to make that session.
-
Reschedule the Session (Optional)
After this, if you’d like to reschedule the session, feel free to do so! You can make a new appointment with the same tutor at a different time the same way you made the original session in the first place.
