Payment Inquiries

*Please note: the information in this article only applies to tutors that are contracted by Upswing.

Please reach out to Tutor Management at [e-mail] for all payment inquiries. While Tutor Management investigates the matter, please keep in mind the following information:

All Upswing Tutors:

• Upswing issues payment biweekly on Friday. All tutors are paid via PayPal.
• Upswing incurs payment fees on tutors' behalf. Therefore, if you have incurred any fees, this is likely because your PayPal account is based outside of the United States, or your financial institution has levied fees.

Synchronous Tutors:

• If a tutor is 10 or more minutes late to a session, payment does not auto calculate, and Tutor Management must manually adjust payment. 
• Connectivity issues sometimes cause payment to miscalculate. 
• Some partner schools do not permit students to exceed the scheduled session time. Be mindful of sessions that warn "No Overage Allowed" to avoid payment issues.

Student Abandoned Session Payment:

• If the student is not present at the beginning of a session, tutors are expected to wait for 15 minutes. If the tutor joins the session late or does not wait for the entire 15 minutes, then payment may not calculate, and the tutor may be ineligible for abandoned session wait time compensation. If the student joins a session late, the tutor will be compensated for the time they waited as well as the time spent in the session after the student joined.

Asynchronous Tutors: 

• If a paper expires from your queue, it will likely be quickly claimed by another tutor. Even if you upload a completed review, after the 24 hour window has elapsed, your account will not be credited for payment.
