What are session limits?

This article explains what session limits are and how they may impact you as you schedule tutoring sessions on the Upswing platform.

Session limits are frequently put into place by our partner schools to ensure that all students at their school have equal access to the pool of tutoring hours provided. Depending on your school, there may be a limit to the amount of time you're able to schedule with Upswing tutors, school tutors, or both; and the limit may be defined on a weekly, monthly, or semester-long basis. You can view session limits set by your school right from the Tutoring page!

How do session limits work?

The total number of minutes used during the time period set by your school reflects the total minutes of all sessions scheduled for that time period, including future sessions. The number of minutes remaining in your session limit balance reflects the amount of time you have left to schedule tutoring sessions for that time period. Once you have reached the set limit, you won't be able to schedule additional sessions until the session limit resets

When do session limits reset?

Weekly session limits reset on Sunday evenings (around 6PM or 7PM CST). If you've reached your limit for the week, you should be able to schedule sessions again on Sunday evening!

Monthly session limits reset at the beginning of the next month, and semester-long session limits will reset around the beginning of the following semester.

What happens if you reach your limit?

If you've reached the limit for the amount of time you're allowed to schedule with Upswing tutors for that time period, try to find a tutor from your school who may be able to assist with your class. For additional information on how to see if a tutor is a tutor at your school, view this article: How can I tell if a tutor is an Upswing tutor or a school tutor?

Unfortunately, our Support Team is unable to make adjustments to session limits set by schools. However, if you are unable to find a tutor from your school who is able to assist with your course, send us an email at support@upswing.io. We'd be happy to see if there's anything we can do to help!
