Depending on your institution, you may have access to scheduling sessions with Upswing tutors, school tutors, or both! Based on the tutoring settings set by your school, you may only have access to a limited amount of time with Upswing tutors in a certain time period. This is why it may be important to check if a tutor is an Upswing tutor, or a tutor with your school.
When you search for the subject that you're hoping to be tutored in, you will see the list of tutors that are able to tutor for that subject. If you are hoping to meet with a specific type of tutor (school tutor vs. Upswing tutor), you can quickly and easily find the right tutor for you by using the Tutor Type filter.
Understanding Tutor Types
School Tutors
School tutors are tutors that are employed by your school. When you schedule tutoring sessions with school tutors, you may have the option to schedule in-person or group tutoring sessions.
Upswing Tutors
Upswing tutors are tutors that are employed by Upswing. When scheduling sessions with Upswing tutors, you'll only have the ability to schedule online, one-on-one tutoring sessions.
Using the Tutor Type Filter
The Tutor Type filter for the Tutor Search results allows you to select from either school tutors or Upswing tutors. Please note: if your school / institution does not use Upswing tutors, you will not see this filter option. This means that all of the tutors you will choose from will be tutors at your school / institution.
To apply the tutor type filter, click on the Tutor type chip and select either [School] tutor or Upswing tutor. If there are no tutors in the search results for one of those tutor types, that tutoring type will be grayed out and you won't be able to select that option.
Viewing the Tutor's Profile
Another way you can determine if a tutor is a school tutor or an Upswing tutor is by viewing their profile on the tutor search results page. If you look directly below a tutor's name, you can see if they are a school or Upswing tutor, as shown in the screenshots below.
